VISITING PORTUGALETE

Last Friday, May 4, and within the proposed activities to get to know our town and its surroundings, we joined a guided tour through the historical Portugalete to better know our streets, monuments and most famous and outstanding buildings.

Starting from the Tourism Office itself, we got to know the Paseo de La Canilla, the town hall square and the historic center with Santa María street where this picture was taken.

We continued walking up to the Salazar Tower (bottom photo), stopping later at the Santa María Basilica, then going to the buildings of Santa Clara and Real de Asúa and ending the visit at Puente Colgante and the monument dedicated to Víctor Chávarri.

The students wrote down data and curiosities in a piece of paper previously distributed in order to encourage active listening by Monica, the guide that accompanied us. She explained in a didactic way and very entertaining the secrets, mysteries and intricacies that keep every corner of the Portugalete we transit everyday.
